X-Shut Camera Screw CROSS

The X-Shut Camera Screw CROSS is designed to be used with a standard 1/4″-20 camera screw. The countersunk larger hole in the center of the CROSS allows a flat head screw to sit flush with the surface, allowing it to attach to the BASE. A resilient washer and four studs prevent the camera screw from unintentionally unthreading and prevent the CROSS from shifting.

Note:  Although the screw has a standard thread size for cameras, the screw itself is specialized. The head diameter is smaller than ones you will find elsewhere. In order for the system to work, one of these specialized screws must be used. The screws are available in 9mm, 11mm, 14mm, and 24mm lengths. The CROSS comes with one screw of your choice. Additional screws may be purchased separately.

With particularly heavy devices or large lenses that shift the center of weight, it is advisable to use an aluminum support for the camera. The weak point of construction is not the X-Shut, but the threaded base of the camera itself. We are happy to advise if you are not sure whether your camera might need additional support.

Tip: In addition to your skydiving helmet, you can mount an extra BASE to a tripod to conveniently attach and detach between the two.
